Is Your Wireless Router Secure?
 |
Wireless internet offers great convenience by allowing customers to access the internet wirelessly throughout their home or business. Wireless internet is made possible through the use of devices called wireless routers. These routers broadcast signals that don’t necessarily stop at the edge of your property but instead may extend for quite a distance and in turn may be accessed by others in the area. Because of this customers need to pay close attention to security issues related to using wireless internet.
It is very important that you make sure your wireless router is secured. You are responsible for activities done through your internet connection. If your wireless router is not secure and someone else is accessing it to participate in illegal activities such as spamming, you are liable. Also, if others have access to your network they can also gain access to the information in your computer.
To secure your wireless internet, follow the instructions included with the router. RTC sells and installs wireless routers for homes and businesses. If you have questions on your wireless router or if you are interested in purchasing one, call RTC at 1.888.862.3115.
Please note: Using another person’s wireless internet signal off their premises, without purchasing internet service yourself is considered theft of service and is prosecutable under law.
