Samantha Entzi, a junior at Johnson Corners Christian Academy near Watford City, is attending the 2010 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Annual Youth Tour June 5 - 8. Each year, in collaboration with National Telecommunications Cooperative Association member companies, FRS brings rural students from across the United States to Washington, D.C. for a four-day tour.
While in Washington, Samantha will learn about the telecommunications industry, as well as the regulatory and legislative processes. She will visit the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and meet with industry leaders and members of Congress. Attendees will be given ample time to explore the Nation's Capital and its many attractions such as the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials; The Korean, Vietnam and new World War II Memorials; Mount Vernon, home of George Washington; the Smithsonian Museums; and much more.
Every year RTC randomly selects a school within their serving area. In turn that school selects a high school junior to attend the expense-paid FRS Youth Tour. Johnson Corners Christian Academy was drawn this year and Samantha Entzi was selected. Samantha's mother Valerie Entzi was selected as a chaperone for the tour. Each chaperone will be responsible for at least five to six students, ensuring safety and education for the students, as well as the Youth Tour group in its entirety.
