RTC Offers High Speed Internet to ALL Customers

 In 2001 RTC began offering high speed internet service through Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). In the beginning this service had several technical limitations so DSL was only available to customers in certain areas. During the past five years, RTC has continuously expanded DSL service through new technologies and upgrading equipment. DSL is now available in most locations; however there are customers who are outside DSL’s service area.
To deal with this issue, RTC entered into a partnership with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) and began providing WildBlue Satellite Speed Internet in 2005. This additional service offered high speed internet to those customers who did not have access.
With these two forms of delivery, every RTC customer can have high speed internet service. RTC’s Operations Manager Roger Hovda said, “RTC now offers high speed internet service to our most rural customers. We are proud to say that every RTC customer has access to high speed internet with either our traditional DSL service or WildBlue.”
High speed internet provides many benefits dial-up internet cannot. High speed internet does not tie up your phone line when you are online so you can surf the web and receive calls at the same time. High speed internet provides internet service with speeds over 10 times faster than dial-up internet. This allows for faster downloads of pictures, music, and other large files. High speed internet also provides very fast upload speeds.
